BIO Page

Ok, the big guy up there is me in my garage in Altus; note the computer on the left. I used to be a big fan of Jim Beam & Pepsi, so when I decided to layer the image the bottle seemed appropriate. Actually, it's 3 layers, the garage, the bottle, and I was leaning against a wall in the kitchen before I cut & pasted myself in this pic. Ok, enough about "How to have fun with Photoshop".

Ok, from the beginning... I was born a poor black child and raised on a mayonnaise farm... Oh wait, different Jerk (no offense to those who love the Steve Martin movie). Seriously, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I attended Brooklyn Technical HS majoring in aeronautics. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Air Force Reserve as a weekend warrior while I attempted to find my calling between being an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and spending 3½ years as a NYC Police Officer. Well, I got married and grew tired of being shot at, so I decided to follow my heart and not my wallet by going active duty in the Air Force and giving up my civilian lifestyle (as well as most of my rights as an American, and a huge chunk of my former paycheck). Since my first time laying hands on a C-141 Starlifter (tail number 64-0633 in case you're interested), I've been madly, desperately in love with the aircraft. I ended up spending 15½ years stationed at McGuire AFB, NJ before being paroled into an easier job at Altus AFB, OK where I taught new engineers. Finally, the USAF decided to mothball the C-141s and I found myself out of a job, so I endured engineer training on the C-5 Galaxy and got orders to Dover AFB, Delaware. No matter how much time I spend here, the C-5 will never replace the C-141 in my heart.

I'd like to say I pretty much know everything about the C-141, but that's far from the truth. I don't think there's ANYBODY who knows it all, but I like to think I'm close to knowing most of it. Let's be realistic here, when you're 2000 miles out to sea and something goes dreadfully wrong, if you don't know what you're dealing with it could spell disaster in a big way.

Personally speaking for those who might be interested in gory details, I'm 6'3" and about 220 pounds (Mom is 5'9" and Dad is 6'6" so I'm in between). I have two daughters that I love with every fiber of my being. I've got some family pics available here.

I'm into computers (to the tune of 10-16 hours per day depending on whether I have to go to work or not) and absolutely love camping, fishing, collecting movies on DVD, metal detecting & geocaching. A recent flurry of mail over my writing (particularly the boneyard run page) has me thinking I might just get up the gumption to finish the two books I've been trying to write (both about the C-141, go figure), but it can always wait a few more years until I retire from the Air Force. Here's what I predict I'll look like when I retire

Quite obviously, this web page is another labor of love that I'm always trying to improve. Recent feedback said there wasn't enough about me personally, so this page should correct that situation. Music? I like almost everything except rap, head-banging stuff (alternative), and opera. Top three for me is Country, 80s Rock & Roll, and Folk. Favorite singers in the Country category incluse The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Wade Hayes, Toby Keith, and Neil McCoy. Folk faves are Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, and Simon & Garfunkel. I've been known to do karaoke on occasion and I've got a really deep voice, so singing any songs from the above Country list usually turns out well, but not as well as a standing ovation I got for Elvis' I Can't Help Falling in Love With You a few months back (at the time this was written).

Well that's it about me; I'm really a simple and predictable kind of guy unless we're flirting online. In that case watch out! hehehe
