I was warned away from getting a meal at Lajes, but in the interest of keeping this site fresh I decided to get one anyhow. The meal was simple enough, a turkey & cheese (real swiss) on locally baked bread and scooby snacks to fill the rest of the box. On the 6-hour flight from Lajes to Dover I didn't even finish it all. I dogged the sandwich, pudding cup, and Twix bar, washing it down with the Mountain Dew. The rest was tossed in the garbage because we were landing and the agriculture guy would have a field day with a fresh orange. Maybe it was the double burger & fries just before we left Lajes, but I really wasn't too hungry. Could this meal sustain an adult for a 6-hour flight? Sure. Can it handle an augmented duty day? Nah, better order two of them :) In all, I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing really missing were REAL mayo, and some kind of salad (macaroni or lettuce).

Update!

I got this update from Steve Yon, a Herc driver from Ontario who says:
Attached is a pic of the box
lunch we got. I'd have to say it wasn't as nice as the one I received earlier this year. As you
can see from the photo, it's pretty spartan. The choices for the sandwich were roast beef, ham and
cheese, or turkey. No soda, only bottled water and a small juice.
I suppose enough to stave off the growlies, but not much better.

Thanks for the update, Steve!!
